Avellino (Italy), 17 – 18 January 2023
A condensed and dense meeting. We know a little more about the capacity of a country to rebuild itself, based on knowledge, a close and historical link between professionals and education, and a real capacity to regenerate a territory through the audacity of innovation.
On Tuesday 17th and Wednesday 18th January 2023, the project partners met in Avellino (Italy) for the Transnational Project Meeting organised by ASFORIN.
In parallel with the necessary project monitoring and progress meetings, the agenda prepared by ASFORIN included activities aimed at presenting the local agrarian school and the best practices from the province of Avellino.
On the first day, the Transnational Project Meeting was hosted at the Istituto Tecnico Agrario “Francesco de Sanctis”, one of Italy’s oldest viticulture and oenology schools. Participants were introduced by the headmaster, Pietro Caterini, to the history and activities of the institute and guided on a tour of the winery of the school.
Then, Roberto Rubino, researcher and president of ANFoSC (Associazione Nazionale Formaggi sotto il cielo), presented the work and model proposed by the Association, which aim is to produce systematic, reliable knowledge on the quality of agricultural raw materials.
At the close of the morning’s work, Antonio Capone, president of the Order of Agronomists and Foresters of the Province of Avellino, presented the characteristics of the regional terroir, the climatic conditions and the agro-food excellence of Irpinia, highlighting the strategic role of Agronomists.
After the lunch break, the partners discussed the project’s progress and analysed the project’s status and the administrative and financial requirements.

On Wednesday 18, the participants visited the Azienda Agricola Antico Castello, located in the Taurasi area. There, participants were guided through the company’s winemaking techniques, passion for the land, and entrepreneurial vision of wine.
In the afternoon, the partners discussed communication and knowledge transfer tasks. Also, they planned the following project activities: preparing the LTTA to be hosted in France, scheduling the next (online) Transnational Project Meeting, and outlining the LTTA to be hosted in Spain in November 2023.
The Transnational Project Meeting was attended by 16 participants, among university and high school professors, educators, and organisation representatives from the eight countries involved in the project: Italy, Denmark, Finland, Belgium, France, Spain, Croatia, and Serbia.
